Yes indeed, her past procedures appear quite evident in these before and after photos, especially the nose job, which significantly narrowed the width while creating more definition.

Happy Birthday Aaliyah

It's been a decade since Über talented Rn b singer and actress Aaliyah tragically died in a plane crash. Today would have marked Aaliyah's 32nd birthday. 

In circumstances when someone dies tragically and at a young age there is always a danger that we can become too caught up in thoughts of "what may have been" but this serves no useful purpose and only distracts from their achievements. Therefore, lets rejoice in the singer and focus on what made, and still till this day makes, Aaliyah such an enduring force in music.



Aaliyah was a trailblazer who took risks and never followed the crowd. Instead the icon opted to trust her own sense of style and her own musical instincts to drive her career and as such created styles and sounds that inspired imitators the world over. So shrewd was her judgement that even today, over ten years later, songs like We need  a resolution  and One in a Million still sound ahead of the time.

But we can't speak of Aaliyah without mentioning her unique  4 octave voice, that till this day hasn't had any competitors in terms of its smooth tone or it's versitility. Her voice could be subdued and cool (One in a million), suductive and enticing (It's whatever) or, what she did best, laced with attitude and confidence (You got nerve, If your girl only knew). It was Aaliyah's vocal abilities that carried Timbalands computerised beats to the level of genius by giving them warmth and soul; a feat he has yet to repeat with any other singer he has produced for.

So Happy Birthday Aaliyah and, in the words of a certain popular swedish group, thank you for the music.

One in a Million: This song was the one that woke me up to the singer. The subtle soft production, the silky vocals and the stuttering beat just blew my mind. Was like nothing I had heard before.

Are you that Somebody: Another release that came from left field, and kept Aaliyah way a head of the crowd. The baby squeal, the Timbaland production and the backing vocals by Static still sound fresh today.

Rock the Boat: The last video AAliyah would shoot before she passed away. This video showed how far the singer had come and matured from the shy teenager, who hid behind men's clothes and dark glasses. The video's beautiful, almost Heaven like scenes will always be laced with an undercurrent of sadness.

Ellen Barkin is a lovely and talented longtime hollywood actress, known for starring in motion pictures including Sea of Love, This Boy's Life and Drop Dead Gorgeous, just to name a few.

One thing that Ms. Barkin has made very clear while chatting it up over the years, is that she is totally against invasive plastic surgery...

I think it's dangerous. Women who have had major surgery are sending out the signal saying, 'I'm not happy with where I am, so I want to be somewhere else, I want to be like I was at 30.

I think face lifts make you look older not younger. You look at them and think either they look crazy or awful. For some of them, I will say, 'Oh, wow! That looks like a beautiful woman (but) it just doesn't look like the same beautiful woman.

However when it comes to non-invasive procedures, Ellen has readily admitted to undergoing collagen enhancing treatments such as Thermage and Fraxel.

I don't have problems with fillers and non-invasive procedures. I think a little bit of everything is OK, I'm fine with it all except Botox.

The whole Botox craze, what it says to me is 'I am desperately unhappy with where I am in my life's journey, I don't like it, I want to disguise it, I want to erase it. Like, 'I'm not comfortable being 30, 40, 50, 60.' And I have issues with that.

She even took it one step further and voiced her displeasure for observing actors who have undergone too much plastic surgery.

I don't want to see someone I've watched in movies for 20 years and not know who they are, with their eyebrows somewhere in the middle of their hairline. If I see someone on screen whose face can't move to express emotion, then I'm no longer interested in watching them act.

One thing that Ellen fails to mention is her thoughts about lip injections, however from the looks of this track-record of before and after photos, it would appear shes not appose to the idea.
I must admit, its quite admirable of Ellen Barkin to voice her opinion about plastic surgery, considering how popular this trend has become among many of her peers in show business. However i imagine the feeling is somewhat mutual among fellow celebrities, who recognize the alarming rate of plastic people.

Tyra Banks is a tremendously successful American model, television host/personality and actress, perhaps best known for hosting The Tyra Banks Show, and for her work on the reality series America's Next Top Model.

For as long as memory serves me, Tyra Banks has been front and center of numerous plastic surgery rumors, most notably breast implants and a nose job (rhinoplasty) procedure.

Apparently Ms. Banks was tired of all the breast enhancement speculation, so while taping an episode of her talk show back in 2005, the "keeping it real" advocate unhooked her bra and let the world see them hang, however she even took it one step further when she brought out a doctor and underwent a televised sonogram.

I'm tired of this rumor. It's something that's followed me forever. By no means am I saying a breast implant is a bad thing, but it's not a choice that I made. But it's something that a lot of the public think that I have, and that's so frustrating for me.

The results from the sonogram exam were clear, and Tyra Banks was totally vindicated of having breast implants, end of story... or was it?

One thing the that Ms. Banks neglected to mention, was her alleged nose job operation, a rumor that has been backed by some pretty convincing before and after photos.
These before and after snapshots showcase Tyra Banks long before she entered into the public eye, revealing a drastically bigger and wider nose, a far cry from her current petite nose, which has an exceedingly thinner and much more defined bridge and tip.

Review: Britney "Hold it against me" (LISTEN TO )

Britney Spears' new song, Hold it against me, has just premièred online and I'm sad to say she has returned with a run-of-the-mill, David Guetta-ish, dime-a-dozen, club track.

Hold it against me is effectively a schizophrenic dance song that can't make its mind up what segment of the dance market it wants to appeal to, so decides to target them all.

Its verses are driven by a thumping baseline, that's clearly aimed at the gay scene. Then the sound is softened in the chorus, by a textbook removal of the bass-line, which makes the song appeal to the pop market. The middle 8, which is the best part of the song and ironically features pretty much no Britney vocals, gives the song an edge by exposing the world, excitingly, to the grimy Dubstep sound of South London. But not being content with the stop off in London the song carries on in to an Ibiza rave, thus hopefully appealing to the big European clubs, with some euphoric atmosphere generating synths. Before it finally ends up back at the gay scene where it all started.



Britney Spears' Voice sounds about as soulless as it has since the amazing Blackout album and as such it maintains a monotone,deadpan stance pretty much throughout the song. Sporadically there are flourishes and inflections of a Britney that isn't on autopilot, but unfortunately it's not enough to lend  the song any of her character or star quality.

This might explain why the Producers, Max Martin and Dr. Luke, "cleverly" decided to cram in as many sub-genres of dance music as they could logistically fit into a 4 minute pop song. Their reasoning must have been if the voice doesn't hold the attention of a a listener then the ever changing production will.

Unfortunately the way they handle this idea - and its also the reason the song doesn't become something magical- is that they use the most clichéd and overused motifs from each club style to formulate the song. This method, along with Ms Spears' voice, only emphasises the lack of any soul, creativity or life within Hold it against me.

Overall: Hold it against me, from the standpoint of someone expecting a song that was going to set the standard of pop music for years to come, is a disappointing single. Here's hoping, as my expectation is brought back to Earth, the song will have a fair chance to grow on me and I'll end up loving it the way everyone else seems to. Whatever the case I'm sure Britney Spears will be celebrating her next number 1 single with this song.

 

Lady gaga: More style than Substance?

It's often said by Lady Gaga detractors that her over the top videos and dress sense is an attempt to distract the public from her lack of musical talent. To those who think this I introduce to you the acoustic version of Paparazzi. Ignore the funny ensemble and simply listen.


By the end of the song you may still dislike Gaga's voice, or her music but only a hater could deny Lady Gaga's musical ability.

An organic makeover is given to Rihanna's Only girl (in the world) as folk-pop singer Ellie Goulding swaps the processed productions for a string quartet and piano.

As much as I love Ellie and acoustic versions of songs, I just don't think it works with Only girl as the original song gets so much of its clout from the music and not the vocal or lyrics. Therefore with the driving force behind the song removed the song falls apart.

Lady gaga got the ball rolling earlier this week by revealing the cover of her new album Born this way and now Britney Spears follows by unveiling the cover art for her new single Hold it against me.

What's most exciting about this album are the reports that claim Britney Spears is dabbling in the UK underground genre of Dub-step. If this were to be true then this album could potentially rival that of her masterpiece, Blackout. Unfortunately the CD cover of Hold it against me doesn't reveal much about the angle or theme this as yet untitled album is taking.

M.I.A has released a new mixtape containing unheard material and outtakes from her last album Maya for free- yes FREE- to us purveyors of fine music. The Mix tape features production  by M.I.A, Danja, Munchi, Diplo, Blaqstarr, Switch, Rusko, Sugu Arulpragasam and So Japan.

As usual with M.I.A this isn't for everyone, as her brand of electro music and rap is an acquired taste.While some see M.I.A as revolutionary and cutting edge others consider her music noise and overrated. Personally I am loving Vicki Leekx; the production is worth the download alone.

As you can see, Amerie's new re-sculpted nose is dramatically thinner, with a more prominently defined bridge and pointier tip.

Blythe Danner Talks About Botox And Plastic Surgery

Blythe Danner is a lovely and talented American actress, who has been making the show business rounds for over forty years and counting, recently recognized for her role in the 'Fockers' film series. She is also well-known as the mother of a-list starlet, Gwyneth Paltrow.

In a recent interview with Us Magazine, Blythe Danner discussed her thoughts on plastic surgery, and her own personal use of botox injections...

Well, I think we've all fooled around with [Botox]. I think, you know, we've got so much at our fingertips now, why not take advantage of it? There are extraordinary things that can help us now.

I mean I can't stand the big, puffy lips. That stuff is just crazy! And the cheekbones that come out to here! I feel like, why do they think they have to do that?

And while Ms. Danner didn't delve any deeper into any further plastic surgery of her own, others have speculated she may have undergone a minor facelift and eye lift. However botox is the procedure which is evident in our eyes.

"BORN THIS WAY" Review!

Lady Gaga has revealed, via Twitter, the cover for her next album entitled Born this way. It features Lady Gaga, from behind, wearing nothing but a denim jacket  which bares the album title and a unicorn rampant.

Having Madonna as one of her idols, its no surprise Lady Gaga would take a leaf from her book and reinvent herself with the new album. The question is which direction is Lady Gaga going to take on Born this Way.

If we were to infer a direction just from the cover it could be that Lady Gaga is moving from the processed, electro-pop,and highly polished visuals of her last album towards a rougher 80's rock-pop sound and visual that was favoured by the likes of Gun and Roses and Bon Jovi.


Hopefully Lady Gagas' previous hints at her rock influences- albeit in an Elton John vein- with songs such as Speechless and Again and Again, may soften any impending change enough to avert a potential genocide of "Little Monsters" around the world.

Here's hoping that this new style is amalgamated with the electronic sound we've come to expect from the singer and is not a total departure into unknown territory.

However, this is all pretty poor speculation and I could be totally wrong about the whole project, asLady Gagais still working with her previous producer Redone, and as such there is still a chance she may return with another electro-pop album! Only a little longer till we all find out! Exciting!

Apparently this little nugget of speculation has been floating around for awhile now, however its news to us, as we just stumbled across a plethora of blogs discussing the possibility of plastic surgery for lovely English actress, Keira Knightley.

Rhinoplasty is the procedure under review, and this before and after photo makes a very strong case for just that. The angles appear to be properly aligned, making for a fair comparison, which highlights a slightly smaller tip and trimmed nostrils.
