Video Review: Britney Spears does Awake in new video for "I Wanna Go"

I Wanna Go is a tongue-in-cheek video where Britney Spears swears at journalist, gropes a fan, flashes random people -including a minor- and then begins a fight with cyborg paparazzi, only to be saved by an atypical “hunk” who apparently likes milk. But it seems too surreal to be true and at the end its revealed that its all been a daydream/fantasy that a bored Britney was having at the press conference that opened the video......or was it? Watch the end of the video to fully understand!

Whatever the case the video for I Wanna Roll is a light and bright video that has a strong narrative, is funny and is shot brilliantly with a Britney that's looking fresh faced, happy and-and most importantly- mentally alert. Although the actual song wouldn’t have been my next choice for a release from the brilliant Femme Fatale album (review here) -How I roll and Trip to my Heart are a lot stronger- the video is a nice, quirky and solid addition to Britney Spears’growing videography.

Listen to Britney Spears' "Femme Fatale Dubstep Megamix"

Enjoy this epic mash-up of Britney Spears' songs from her brilliant Femme Fatale album. Though Britney may still not be 100% with it- though much improved since the start of the project-her incredibly astute and clever management are doing an amazing job keeping this project afloat as she regains her previous pop-star polish.

Songs contained within The Femme Fatale Dubstep Megamix:
Beginning: How I roll
0.47 Hold it against me,
2.00 Till the world ends
2.54 Big fat Bass
4.22 Trip To Your Heart
5.25 How I roll
6.05  (Drop Dead) Beatuiful
7.06 Selfish
8.27 Criminal
9.10 I wanna go

Britney spears : "Till the world ends" video review

A 30 second clip of Britney Spears' new video for Till the world ends has just been released on Youtube and it is looking epic!

This is the level of quality I wanted to see in Britney's last video Hold it against me; a video that seemed too cheap for not only a lead single (read the review for Femme Fatale) but for someone of Britneys' stature. Although I eventually warmed to the video after the clever symbolism was made apparent to me, it's treatment still leaves me feeling cold and uninterested when I see it now.

Apart from the glossy look and a Britney with some spark, what's exciting me most about the clip is that the director-Ray Kay- has done what I hoped and decided to go with an apocalyptic visual to tally with the songs lyric "Keep on dancing till the world ends".The resulting visuals fit brilliantly with the urgency that the track's clever structure and searing synths create and should rightfully take this song to the top of charts round the world.

Till the world ends has the potential to be the dance anthem of 2011, not only is the song a joyous experience to listen to- NB the last time I felt this way about a pop/dance song and it's video was in 1999 with Jennifer Lopez's Waiting for tonight- but I'm relieved to see that it looks like the video will be holding its own against the awesome audio!

Review: Britney Spears "Femme Fatale"

Unfortunately for Britney Spears her new album Femme Fatale has leaked prior to it's March 25th release date and via Youtube and Soundcloud I have had a chance to hear the album in its entirety. But after this early preview will I still be buying the album come release day?

Femme Fatale finds Britney Spears firmly in the club-which is where she should always be quite frankly- with excellent production and surprisingly good vocals-even when they are being stuttered and autotuned- to boot. The album bares some of the strengths of her most adventurous and best works but overall it stays too close to the prevailing mainstream sound  to be as revolutionary as the Blackout album. Instead, it straddles a line between  said albums' electro-infused, gritty club sound and its predecessor Circus' highly polished pop sensibilities. For the most part its a great fusion that accomplishes the job of keeping Britney Spears cutting edge and one step ahead of the competition but without it being at the expense of her pop fanbase.

Femme Fatale is ultimately a dance album that bravely doesn't try to be anything else but that.  Fast paced beats, lots of bass and Britneys unmistakeably voice all come together brilliantly to create a quality cohesive body of work. Granted the lyrics are pretty shallow and ubiquitous but what with the aim of the album being to get, and keep, people on the dance floor it doesn't suffer from the lack of lyrical depth one iota. Although not as revolutionary as Blackout, Femme Fatale still manages to show that after more than a decade in the industry Britney Spears is still as relevant and a trendsetter as she was when she first entered the game.

Stand-out tracks:
  • I Wanna go: Quirky whistling, stuttering vocals, and a dirty baseline =WIN
  •  (Drop Dead) Beautiful: At times the track channels Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters fame, Ke$ha and even Beyonce. Rapper Sabi is just the icing on the cake.
  •  Trip to your heart: Expansive, cold synths are contrasted and warmed by an intoxicating, sweet vocal by Ms Spears. A track equally at home in the club or on a chilled night in.
  • Big Fat Bass featuring will.i.am: Even though this is essentially Boom Boom Pow version 2.0 it still doesn't detract from this being one hell of a dance song.
  • Till the world ends
  • Hold It Against Me: Took a bit of time to grow on me, but definitely the stand out track.
Rating: 4/5

Britneys back bi*ch!

ANYONE WHO DOWNLOADED THE ALBUM ILLEGALLY PLEASE BE SURE TO BUY FEMME FATALE WHEN ITS RELEASED ON THE 25th OF MARCH.

NB: This review was created by listening to the songs via various streaming sites (Youtube and Soundcloud.)

Review Britney Spears : Till The World Ends

Till The World Ends
Although there's a generic feel about the new Britney Spear's single Till The World Ends, thankfully it's the kind of generic I can't get enough of; thumping beats, lo-fi fade in and outs, stuttering vocals and, as if that wasn't enough, lyrics provided by Ke$ha. Britney is sticking to what she does best, making the world dance!!

Almost delirious with excitement for the release of Britney Spear's Femme Fatale!
